My life's mission is to improve mental health.

Growing up was not easy for me. In fact, I don't even know how I survived my teenage years. I'm not sure if you can relate but let me tell you a little bit about what happened. My family was in an accident (a plane crash) that left me in a coma for one-month, and killed my mother. My dad ended up re-marrying a woman who ended up being verbally abusive. In high school, I got picked on every day because of my physical disability from the plane crash. Then our house ended up catching on fire, so we lost everything. Then my dad ended up getting addicted to opioids to deal with his pain, and he passed away. 

So as you can imagine, I was very, very, very depressed and had constant thoughts of suicide. I knew that if I didn't start healing myself, I wouldn't make it. I was embarrassed to admit that I was depressed because of the stigma, so I thought I had to do it all on my own. The only one who knew was my doctor who prescribed me a variety of meds - that didn't work. 

I gave myself an ultimatum. I told myself that if I didn't start to feel better in 3 months, after giving it my all, I'd call it quits. So I hit the library hard. I'd read book after book - multiple times. Everything from "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" to "How to Win Friends and Influence People" to "Awaken the Giant Within". You name it. And in my downtime, I'd constantly listen to the album "Hybrid Theory" by a band called Linkin Park because their lyrics made me feel understood, and not alone.

Throughout college, I kept reading and applying personal development books to improve my mental health, and graduated in the top of my class in 2006 with a psychology and marketing degree. I grew a deep love and fascination for how the mind works, after battling depression for so many years. 

Then after several unfulfilling sales jobs, I wanted more than anything to help people feel better about their lives, as I'd done for myself since 1999. So in 2012, I went back to school to become a Certified Coach who focuses on Mental Health. 

I coached people 1-on-1, and wrote a few Amazon Bestsellers, including "How to Live in the Present Moment 2.0", and "Unzip Your Mind". But I wasn't making enough of an impact because the depression and suicide rates kept increasing every year. What was going on?

Then it hit me hard like a ton of bricks crushing my entire body. Chester Bennington of Linkin Park commits suicide. I was devastated for months. This guy's music saved my life when I was 19, and he inspired me to keep living, and he took his own life! After mourning for several months and feeling depression creeping back in, I knew I had to make a MUCH bigger impact. 

I needed to touch more lives and show people who are depressed that LIFE DOES GET BETTER, if you know what to do, and put in a little bit of work each day. But the problem is that most people don't know where to start! So, although, I was EXTREMELY scared, I started speaking on stages and created an online course so that I could impact more lives. I started an Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube Channel so that I could reach more people.
